Kempton Game Shooting Estate by Bettws Hall
The deep valleys surrounding the mound of an historically renowned Iron Age Burrow provide a range of superb pheasant and partridge drives set amongst glorious countryside in the Welsh Marches.
On the edge of the Welsh Marches a prominent Iron Age Burrow rises majestically out of a secluded Shropshire Vale. The ground surrounding this ancient mound forms an impressive part of the shoot at Kempton. The valleys beneath the Burrow are perfect for driven pheasants and partridge shooting and drives like The Oaks, Keepers and Unbelievable make full use of them.
The lodge, a converted barn, sits at the head of the ‘Viagra’ valley with prominent views over the shooting estate and beyond. We meet here in the morning, warm ourselves by the fires and prepare for the day great ahead.
Drives are dispersed with stops for champagne and nibbles, ensuring each moment can be savoured. After lunch the team return to the field for the afternoon drives where more challenging shooting awaits.
Kempton is a mixed pheasant and partridge shoot which has regularly featured, high up the list, in the countries top 50 shoots. The partridges are particularly good early season but as the months pass the pheasants come into a class of their own.
